JOB SUMMARY: The Lafayette Catholic School System (LCSS) has an opening for a full or part-time highly motivated, qualified and experienced Special Education Teacher to work with students who have learning, mental, or emotional disabilities. As a Special Education Teacher, you will work closely with these students to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment that promotes their academic, social, and emotional growth. You will collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and other specialized learning plans to meet the unique needs of each student.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and implement effective and engaging teaching strategies and instructional materials that are tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment that promotes academic, social, and emotional growth.
- Collaborate with other teachers, administrators, and support staff to develop and implement IEPs and other specialized learning plans.
- Regularly assess and monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies and instructional materials as needed.
- Provide individual and group instruction, support, and guidance to students with learning, mental, or emotional disabilities.
- Utilize assistive technology and other specialized equipment and materials to support student learning.
- Communicate regularly with parents, guardians, and other stakeholders about student progress and challenges.
- Participate in professional development activities to stay current with research-based practices and emerging trends in special education.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
- Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
- Experience working with students who have learning, mental, or emotional disabilities.
- Knowledge of research-based practices and strategies for teaching students with special needs.
- Ability to develop and implement effective IEPs and other specialized learning plans.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Passion for working with students with special needs and dedication to creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Lafayette Catholic School System (LCSS). LCSS is a five campus, pre-K through 12 system that provides a Christ centered education to students in the Tippecanoe County, Indiana area. More than 1000 students are enrolled system wide. The 5 schools that are part of LCSS are St. Francis (preschool), St. Mary Cathedral (K - 3), St. Boniface (4 - 6), St. Lawrence (K - 6), and Central Catholic Jr. / Sr. High School (7 - 12).
