Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and efficient Rail Loader to join our warehouse team in Lafayette, Indiana. This role plays a vital part in our logistics operations by ensuring vehicles are safely and efficiently loaded and unloaded onto railcars. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, is safety-conscious, and is comfortable working with various materials handling equipment in a fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare railcars for vehicle shipments (e.g., open/close doors, set bridge plates, clean interiors)
• Load and unload vehicles onto railcars following company quality and safety standards
• Secure and properly space vehicles according to customer specifications using chocks and tie-downs
• Conduct basic maintenance of bucket loaders, ramps, and railcar parts
• Perform monthly inspections and maintenance of bridge plates and related equipment
• Accurately pick orders and prepare them for shipment based on customer requirements
• Use RF scanners and warehouse management systems to manage inventory and stock locations
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Collaborate with warehouse supervisors to improve workflow and resolve operational issues
• Follow all safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse experience preferred, especially in roles involving order picking or materials handling
• Familiarity with equipment such as pallet jacks, cherry pickers, and clamp trucks is highly desirable
• Welding and/or mechanical experience is a plus
• Prior experience in a rail department is beneficial
• Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights of up to 20 ft.
• Comfortable lifting up to 50 lbs at shoulder level
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and communication skills
• Experience with warehouse management systems and RF scanners is a plus
• Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and a team player

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
